Online Learning from the Left Side of the Nation

My boss is wanting me to create an entry for our school on Wikipedia. I'm questioning the "worthiness" of the entry in an encyclopedia. I know that it is an online encyclopedia, but should individual schools really have entries?

I'm just curious about your thoughts on the matter.

Katie - We don't have our own page, but I thought it was important that our information on the list of Nevada High School's was correct:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_high_schools_in_Nevada

That's about as far as I wanted to take it.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Kate,

I guess it depends on why your boss wants the information there. If it is for the purpose of marketing, then I'm not sure how useful your own entry would be. If it was for the purpose of simply providing information to the public, it probably couldn't hurt. I could go on with other ifs, but maybe the first thing to do is sit down with him or her and figure out what purpose they feel a Wikipedia entry would serve.

I know the entry for virtual school on Wikipedia is quite lacking, something which I hope to actually edit at some point in 2009.
