Yes! Another social networking site for me to keep up on ;) Actually, I'm so very glad you started the site--I've missed the phone conferences due to schedule conflicts, and very much want to keep involved. Looking forward to it!

Hi Glenn and anyone else who sees this message. I'm from Denver, CO and have multiple roles in the DPS Online High School from Site Leader to online social studies teacher. I joined NACOL 3 years ago, have attended the past 3 conferences and always leave wanting more. Our school is in it's 5th year but only it's 3rd year as a full-time program. Our Director was involved in various statewide initiatives and helped start Colorado Online. Getting our school started has been a major coupe on her part because no one in our school district understands us, knows what to do with us, and in many respects, don't want us. However, we're here to stay and that's a fact! I'm looking forward to getting to know more of you and learn about what you are doing to make online learning successful.

Hello, folks!

I started online education with Jefferson County Schools in Colorado in 1995. Several years later, I founded and administered JeffcoNet Academy, that district's online education school. During those years, I was involved in a number of state-wide initiatives, including co-founding the steering committee that created Colorado Online Learning and serving as the first president and later executive director of the Colorado Cyberschool Association. After my retirement, I joined Aventa Learning, serving as its Director of Curriculum and Instruction. When Aventa Learning was acquired by KC Distance Learning, I was moved to the parent company, where I now serve as the Manager of Curriculum Design.

I was one of the first members of NACOL, back in the first months of its existence, when it was still headquartered only a couple of miles from my home in Boulder, Colorado.

I am looking forward to this opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow online educators.

Hi everyone! My name is Tom Triolo and I've been involved with online eduation for about a 1 1/2 years now. I was a math teacher in public schools for 16 years in California and Pennsylvania. I've been working at Pearson in Mesa, AZ for over 2 years. I am currently the Instructional Design Manager for NovaNET, an online high school product. We are utilizing a new instructional design model. Currenlty, we are in the midst of creating an Algebra 2 course. I am excited about being part of a community that is dedicated to the learning of the children of the 21st century. They deserve our very best, so let's talk, share and provide our very best for them. I look forward to learning from you all.

Hello all,

My name is Katie Logan. I am the technology director for Wyoming e Academy of Virtual Education. We are a full time and supplemental program. We are the only fully online HS program in the state. We are located on the Wind River Indian Reservation in central Wyoming and mainly serve Native American students. It is gorgeous here, so don't let I-80 fool you. Even better, no wind. (that is a nod to you Glen)

I'm looking forward to working with everyone.

I'll have to get up to that non-windy Wind River some time. :) I'm just glad I survived my year in The Rock.

Hello everyone!
I am located in Evergreen, Colorado (just west of Denver in the mountains).
I was an online special education teacher for three years with Colorado Virtual Academy (K12, Inc.), then the high school principal there for two years. I am now with eCollege as an Account Executive. I am fortunate enough to work with several of the members of this forum and am excited to keep up to date on online learning! I have invited several colleagues to join this group (thanks for inviting me, Rick!).

I'm currently an administrator on special assignment in Academy District 20 in northern Colorado Springs. My job this year has been to organize, run, and teach in our online program. It's been quite an adventure and I'm really enjoying the journey. This is my 16th year in the education biz. I started out in Lewis-Palmer SD #38 as a high school English teacher, moved into teaching technology classes also, then worked as the building technology coordinator before moving on to be the SASIxp administrator for the district. I went to Falcon High School as an assistant principal and later moved to Pine Creek High School also as an AP and took this job just about a year ago. I can't really sit still professionally; I guess I have a restless desire to improve. I'm glad to be a part of the group!

I guess I'm late to this group, but I just found it (after finding Kate Logan's blog actually). Anyway, I'm actually part of the mid-Western group - being located in Michigan, but it seems that I try to stay connected with all things K-12 online learning.

I'm an Assistant Professor at Wayne State University in Detroit.

Good Morning Folks-
I have been working in the virtual school environment for the past 3 years with Washington Virtual Academies through K12 Corp. I am working as an Academic Advisor with the Online High School. (kinda like a Dean of Students) I love working on the computer with students and families, and I actually got my Masters in Adult Ed. and Online Teaching because I knew the way of the future for education was fast moving in this direction. I am currently working on my Principal Certification and will be done in the Spring '09. So, I will be looking for work in Administration soon, and I keep tabs on the Job Postings in NACOL. What a great resource! I look forward to more movement in this area and learning how others are doing in their programs.
